Fux Austria & Schröckenfux Scythe Forge
The manufacturer Fux Austria & Schröckenfux from the Kremstal region of Austria is one of the last remaining scythe forges in Europe. For over 450 years, carbon steel blanks have been forged there in numerous stages into elegantly curved scythes and sickle blades.
In 1540, the Franz de Paul Schröckenfux scythe factory was founded on the Pießlingbach stream. This factory is now one of the oldest industrial enterprises in Upper Austria. At the founding of the scythe forge, the master craftsmen and their journeymen used hand hammers to work the glowing iron into scythes.
In the 16th century, it was courageous and forward-thinking factory owners at Schröckenfux who set about building water-powered hammers in Roßleithen. The powerful blow of the water hammer allowed for the production of a better, more uniform scythe blade than was possible through laborious hand-forging.
Products from Fux Austria, as Schröckenfux is also known today, are characterized by their durability, precision, and excellent workmanship. Garten-Geschenke has been the distribution partner of the scythe forge Schröckenfux for Germany for many years.

At the Schröckenfux scythe factory in Roßleithen, Austria, tradition is combined with progress. Even today, the scythe forge produces high-quality scythes with exceptional craftsmanship in a modern hammer mill. Scythes from Fux Austria are available for many uses on small or large areas, such as for grass, grain, a clean cut, overgrown vegetation, or with a stone point. Scythe blades are made of ash wood and steel in various lengths. Left-handed models are available in the online shop garten-geschenke.de. Even for competitions, there are suitable scythe blades.
Regular sharpening is absolutely essential for maintaining the sharpness of scythes. Sharpening is often done while mowing, because a very sharp scythe allows for more efficient and effortless work. Good accessories for maintaining the high-quality scythes from Schröckenfux are also available at Garten.Geschenke.
