Axes & Hatchets & Tips & Tricks: Sharpening, Storing, Using & Handles
Sharpening
A convex edge is used for limbing, felling, and splitting (1). A straight edge is used for carving (2). A slanted axe poses a safety risk! It's very easy to slip with it (3). A concave edge can easily cause the axe blade to chip (4). An axe blade can be sharpened with a dry grinder or a bench grinder.
The safest method is to use a wet grinder; however, it may then be necessary to first remove burrs and other damage with another grinding tool, such as a bench grinder.

Storage

Use
