Each forged spade is unique and an absolutely reliable and durable tool. With an average of 156 blows from a power hammer, the hot blank is stretched and expanded at 1200 degrees Celsius for Baack spades. This creates a densification of the steel from the handle socket to the cutting edge that can withstand virtually any workload.

The copper alloy for a copper spade from PKS Bronze is cold-forged to ensure the necessary hardness for use in cultivated soil. Copper is an elastic metal and will not break even under heavy use.
